World Book Day 2018

What a great World Book Week 2018!

Every class focussed on Performance Poetry in English this week. It has been lovely to see children develop their confidence and performance skills through a range of poetry. It is clear we have some budding actors and actresses amongst us!

It was great to see so many children dress up as characters from a range of books. There was also so much enthusiasm in our Spud Stories competition-the children, parents and staff showed so much creativity and imagination! Well done to all the winners, as well as Mrs Murphy who won the staff competition!

The children from Highfield St. Matthews also enjoyed listening to stories every afternoon, in our DEAR time. So many children were talking about their class books and didn't want the reading time to end!

Every class in Key Stage One and Key Stage Two were given a gift on World Book Day-some brand new books! The books consisted of some brand new picture book publications as well as chapter books. It was lovely to see the excitement amongst the children.
