The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Administrator to work in our very busy school office supporting the School Business Manager, Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher.  Highfield St. Matthew’s C.E. Primary School is an over-subscribed voluntary aided primary school currently catering for over 500 children between the ages 3-11.

The successful application will:

  • Have previous experience of working in a school office
  • Be an active member of our school team, contributing to the school’s Christian and ethos
  • Promote collaboration and partnership with all members of our School community, fostering positive relationships
  • Be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
  • Be able to work as part of a team but show initiative to work independently
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational, time-management, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have excellent ICT skills including, Word, Excel, Publisher and Office 365
  • Have excellent numeracy and literacy skills
  • Be committed to high standards of presentation
  • Convey a ‘can do’ attitude and present a ‘united front’ to secure successful outcomes for school
  • Have a good record of attendance in previous employment
  • Be able to maintain high levels of discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own workload and meet deadlines

The role will include responsibilities such as:

  • Reception duties – answering the telephone, taking messages, welcoming visitors and providing hospitality/refreshments
  • General administration – checking off deliveries promptly, out-going post
  • Communication – booking courses, managing school internal calendar and use of emails, updating the school website, noticeboards
  • Routine clerical support – typing letters, photocopying, filing,
  • Data inputting – high level of accuracy required e.g. assessment data, medical information, processing orders, invoices
  • Undertake basic financial administration – collection and recording of monies
  • Preparing reports/admissions paperwork
  • Ensure the main entrance area is tidy and welcoming
  • Upkeep of first aid, office and hospitality supplies
  • Reporting of general repairs & maintenance and assisting the SBM with the upkeep of the Fixed Asset Register
  • Manage the school project loan allocation
  • To promote the safeguarding of children
  • To carry out duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the policies of the school and supporting the school ethos
