‘Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven’ (Matthew 5:13)

In our RE lessons we are enjoying listening to stories that Jesus told. In the picture the children are trying to build houses on rocks like the wise man.

We are enjoying playing in the vets role play area.

World Book Day. We had a fantastic time dressing up as our favourite book characters. We love to share stories every day.

We have been using a range of mixed media to create pictures. We love to explore art and printing techniques. We are acquiring skills to help us to evolve into lifelong learners.

It was lovely to welcome the children back after the holiday. We have got a busy and exciting half term coming up. We will be learning all about Spring - new life, new beginnings and Easter. We have been outside looking for signs of Spring. The children used the ipads to take photographs of all of the new leaves, plants and flowers.

Superheroes

The evil peas escaped from the freezer. We caught them on the playground and trapped them in Jelly Jail.

We have been learning about Winter. We found out what happens to water when it is left in a very cold place. The children enjoyed exploring ice balloons and used their senses to investigate. We found out what happens when ice melts.

We celebrated Chinese New Year of the Rat. We used chopsticks to eat some delicious Chinese food. We danced to traditional music, made lanterns and had a go at copying some Chinese writing. Kung Hei Fat Choi.

For National Storytelling Week, we invited Mrs P in to read to our children. She read 3 Slinki Malinki stories for us. Storytime is our favourite part of the day.

We are making good progress in phonics. Practise makes perfect.

We found a mysterious egg. We waited and waited and it finally hatched. We have a baby dinosaur in our Reception classroom. Wow!

We often discuss the moral and social aspect of stories. We like to listen to stories from the Bible. We heard about how David stood up to the big bully Goliath. He was very brave and he knew that God would look after him. We talked about times when we have been brave. We also talked about the horrible effects of bullying and what we should do if we feel like we are being bullied.

They're going on a bear hunt....

So much child initiated learning just from adding some sticks and logs to the construction area. The children came up with some fantastic ideas and worked together to solve problems. They made a camp fire, they rubbed sticks together to try and make a spark. They toasted pretend marshmallows and used the sticks as chopsticks. They also made saxophones, trumpets and drums. Happy and engaged children, loving their learning.
