The SHINE Curriculum
Our SHINE curriculum has been designed through the National Curriculum and by collaboration between all stakeholders at Highfield St. Matthew’s CE Primary, to provide a unique and exciting curriculum that is created to suit our children’s needs and allow them to excel in all they do.
Our Christian Values and God are at the centre of our school and curriculum. Our curriculum is underpinned by our Christian Values which are embedded in the life and work of the school. We focus on one value each half term.
Our curriculum philosophy is rooted in the Bible verse from the book of Matthew –
‘Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven’ (Matthew 5:13).
We strive to provide a curriculum to allow all our children to SHINE brightly before all others and God both now and into their journey to future learning and adulthood.
Our SHINE Curriculum Key Principles:
Stimulating enquiring minds
High expectations and excellence
Inclusivity and flexibility
Nurturing strong, lifelong learning behaviours
Encompassing the Whole Child
